Privacy Policy
This policy explains how WaCommerce handles personal information when buyers and sellers use our marketplace, order tools, verifiable tickets and WhatsApp-first flows.
1. Information we handle
Depending on the feature you use, WaCommerce may handle the following information:
- Account and authentication data, such as name, email and identifiers required to sign in and maintain a secure session.
- Seller profile data, including store name, logo, WhatsApp number, market and location information.
- Commerce data, including order references, products, amounts, status, delivery details and verifiable ticket metadata.
- Operational and security data, such as technical logs, browser/device information and usage events needed for diagnostics, fraud prevention and service reliability.
2. Why we use it
- Operate accounts, stores, catalogues, orders and tickets.
- Authenticate users and protect access to private areas.
- Connect buyers and sellers and support order fulfilment.
- Detect abuse, investigate incidents and improve reliability.
- Meet legal, accounting or regulatory obligations where they apply.
3. Local privacy framework
For New Zealand users, WaCommerce handles personal information with the Privacy Act 2020 and its Information Privacy Principles in mind, including transparency about collection, appropriate use and disclosure, security, retention, access and correction. Where indirect collection rules apply, we will address the notification requirements that apply to that collection.
4. Who may receive information
We may share only the information needed to operate a feature with the relevant seller and with service providers used for hosting, authentication, payments, delivery or security. If you explicitly allow optional analytics, WaCommerce may also use Google Analytics to measure public marketplace usage. Our analytics implementation is designed not to send names, email addresses, phone numbers, delivery addresses, authentication tokens or ticket verification tokens. Those providers may process information under their own terms and privacy obligations. WaCommerce does not sell personal information as a data-broker product.
5. Retention and security
We retain information only for as long as it is reasonably needed for the purpose for which it was collected, platform security, dispute handling or a legal obligation. We use technical and organisational safeguards appropriate to the service, but no Internet service can promise absolute security.
6. Your choices and rights
You may request access to or correction of personal information WaCommerce holds about you. You may also raise a privacy concern through the support/contact channel made available by WaCommerce, and statutory complaint rights remain available to you.
7. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as WaCommerce evolves, when integrations change or when legal requirements change. The date at the top of this page identifies the version currently presented to you.
